We are a faith community and our vision at St Mary’s is to serve the community and help people discover life in all its fullness. Our church building is a beautiful landmark site, and the oldest ...
We have received a Government COVID Recovery Grant of £20,900 which has enabled us to create a beautiful café area in St Mary's Church in the heart of the town. This project is funded by the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage. The Culture Recovery Fund is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage fund and Historic England, using funds provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. We are looking to open for takeaway foods on Thursday 15th March 2021 and weekly thereafter until we can serve foods and drinks safely from within the new church café. We aim to serve fishfinger butties, bacon rolls and sausage sandwiches just to name a few delicious options. We have a wonderful, easy to use coffee machine and can offer takeaway beverages.
As soon as we can we want to really pick up the pace and invite groups back into the church again. These are dementia groups, the elderly, young mums and tots, those with a disability and many others we work with.
We have all sorts of jobs available - cooking, serving, dishwashing, cleaning, serving drinks, cashier, talking to our customers and building on relationships or a mixture, whatever you feel you would like to do.
We would love to hear from you if you are interested and would like to volunteer with us.
We can offer Food Safety and Food Allergens training. We offer training through experience and online certification.
We have a wide range of people using our church, those who are elderly, those with disabilities, young mums, the bereaved etc etc. We want to be able to offer our cafe services over a wide range of projects. We even have concerts from time to time whereby we would like to offer refreshments and possibly light snacks.
If you are interested, please get in touch with me.
