Volunteer training available to support Military Families

Home-Start Blackmore Vale are very excited to announce their Preparatory course starting in September 2023, available to  volunteers from South Somerset and North Dorset. The training includes a mixture of face to face and virtual sessions in active listening, safeguarding, boundaries when working with families, child development and play.

The course will prepare volunteers to  be matched with a Naval or Royal Marine family in need of support living within the South Somerset area.

Being a parent has never been easy and it can be particularly challenging for Naval and Royal Marine families, especially with the unique challenges they face.

If you have parenting experience and a couple of hours free each week to support a family in the South Somerset or North Dorset area, we would love to hear from you.

We offer full training and support, face to face and on line, for this valuable work and it is a great way to meet new friends and make a real difference to your community.
