We want volunteers to help with public events, community groups and school group visits and activities at a local nature reserve or other managed wildlife site
Volunteers are needed to help with public events, community groups and school group visits and activities at Berrow Dunes Local Nature Reserve, Apex Park and Wilstock & Stockmoor Country Park. Volunteers can volunteer across all three sites, or focus on the site of their choice.
Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park straddles Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge, covering approximately 42 acres. The Park has a range of facilities including a large children’s play area, woodland walk, wildflower meadow and fishing lake.
Berrow Dunes Local Nature Reserve is a special place - it forms part of the larger Berrow Dunes SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), an area of great ecological importance. Located immediately behind Berrow Beach, the sand dunes are home to over 270 species of flowering plant and many insects and birds.
Wilstock and Stockmoor Country Park is a beautiful 42 hectare site comprising of meadows, ponds, rhynes and young woodland copses. It's a fantastic place to spot wildlife, particularly birds and insects. There are lots of opportunities to make improvements on site for both people and wildlife.
You'll help to deliver a variety of enjoyable events and activities aimed at raising both adults' and children's awareness of the environment, using different techniques in different situations.
No experience is necessary, but a passion for the environment is vital!
All training and resources are provided.
