We’re looking for a volunteer to support our efforts in securing funding to grow our impact across Somerset. This role involves assisting in identifying suitable grant or funding opportunities, contributing to bid writing, and helping prepare end-of-funding reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify relevant funding opportunities
- Support the preparation and submission of funding applications
- Contribute to writing end-of-project reports for funders
- Assist in tracking spending against funding awards
Optional and depending on skill set
- Support the Treasurer with information for year-end financial summaries
- Maintain a record of fundraising deadlines and reporting requirements
This role is advertised as a task but can grow over time to take on greater responsibility in grant management and fundraising reporting if you wish.
🕒 Time Commitment
- Flexible, depending on funding deadlines
- On average: 4-8 hours per month over the course of a month
🌍 Location
Remote and flexible – most tasks can be done from home with occasional local engagement if desired.
It would also be helpful if you could attend one of our bus stalls to gain insight into the advocacy work we do.
🙋 Skills and Qualities We’re Looking For
- Strong written communication skills
- Organised and detail-oriented
- Some understanding of funding applications (or willingness to learn)
- Interest in community transport or public engagement a bonus
- Willingness to learn and work collaboratively

Our aim is simple: to help residents get to where they want to go, when they need to be there.
Over the past year, we've built a network of local representatives in 125 towns and parishes across Somerset, giving us a truly county-wide reach. We've also organised over 100 bus stall events in the last 12 months, engaging directly with communities across the county.
This puts us in a unique position to understand and represent the real needs and concerns of Somerset residents on public transport issues.
By working together, we are shaping better, more reliable, and more accessible bus services for everyone in Somerset.
