Detailed description
Are you looking for a fun way to meet new people and make a real impact in your community?
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out at our events across Somerset! Whether you're passionate about public transport or simply enjoy engaging with others, this is a great opportunity to get involved, meet new people, and support a growing grassroots campaign to improve local bus services.
🔍 About Us
The Somerset Bus Partnership is run entirely by volunteers. We have 11 bus user groups, 150 bus champions in Somerset.
In 2024, we held over 100 events—all powered by dedicated local people. As we finalise our events calendar for the next 12 months, we need more volunteers to ensure we can attend all the community events planned. Without extra help, some events may not go ahead.
We’re looking for friendly and enthusiastic people to volunteer at at least two events per year. You’ll be helping out at a bus information stall alongside an experienced Team Leader. If you enjoy chatting with the public, being outdoors, and making a difference to your local community, this could be a perfect fit for you!
📝 Key Responsibilities
As an Events Volunteer, you’ll be involved in:
- Setting up and packing down the stall (gazebos, tables, leaflets, etc.) – full training provided
- Welcoming and chatting with members of the public
- Sharing basic advice on local bus services
- Explaining the work of Somerset Bus Partnership and encouraging involvement
- Acting as a friendly Ambassador for better bus services in Somerset
- Supporting the smooth running of the event with your team
You’ll also follow simple event procedures, including:

- (No experience necessary – we’ll support you every step of the way!)

What we will provide to volunteers
💸 Reimbursement of costsAbout Somerset Bus Partnership
Our aim is simple: to help residents get to where they want to go, when they need to be there.
Over the past year, we've built a network of local representatives in 125 towns and parishes across Somerset, giving us a truly county-wide reach. We've also organised over 100 bus stall events in the last 12 months, engaging directly with communities across the county.
This puts us in a unique position to understand and represent the real needs and concerns of Somerset residents on public transport issues.
By working together, we are shaping better, more reliable, and more accessible bus services for everyone in Somerset.
