Enablers support an isolated older person to build their confidence, enabling them to make friends and reconnect with their local community
Re-Connect aims to work with individuals in blocks of 6 weeks for up to 3 months, or 6 months in extreme circumstances, with a view to supporting them in discovering/rediscovering their own social activities.
Volunteers will support, gently coach and encourage each person to set their own goals towards reconnection. This will be achieved by agreeing small steps which they will work through to reach their ultimate ambition of building a social network and independence.
It is anticipated that, through this support, the individual will no longer need regular visits from a volunteer and their Re-Connect support can be brought to a natural end.
