Help run our friendly Share Shop, where borrowing replaces buying. Support your community, reduce waste, and make sustainable living accessible to all.
Help your community save money, reduce waste, and share more.
Do you enjoy meeting people and want to make a positive difference in your local community? Join our friendly team at the Share Shop—a much-loved community project that helps people borrow instead of buy.
The Share Shop is a community reuse and waste reduction charity with a Library of Things, where people can borrow a wide range of useful items for a small charitable charge. By making everyday items accessible and affordable, we help reduce waste, save money, and support a more sustainable community.
We're looking for welcoming and enthusiastic volunteers to help create a positive experience for everyone who visits.
What you'll do
As a Community Share Shop Volunteer, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the shop by:
- Welcoming members and visitors with a friendly smile.
- Helping people navigate our website to browse our Library of Things and find the items they need.
- Supporting customers with borrowing and returning items.
- Processing memberships and simple transactions (full training provided).
- Keeping the shop organised, tidy, and inviting.
- Answering questions about how the Share Shop works.
- Working alongside staff and fellow volunteers in our shared space to support our community and promote reuse.
What we're looking for
No previous retail or volunteering experience is necessary—we'll provide all the training and support you need. We're looking for people who are:
- Friendly, approachable, and enjoy helping others.
- Reliable and committed.
- Comfortable talking to people from all backgrounds.
- Passionate about sustainability, reducing waste, and building stronger communities.
What you'll gain
Volunteering with the Share Shop is a great way to:
- Make a real difference in your local community.
- Help reduce waste and encourage sustainable living.
- Gain experience in customer service, retail, and community engagement.
- Build confidence and develop new skills.
- Meet like-minded people and become part of a welcoming team.
- Receive training, ongoing support, and the satisfaction of contributing to a project that benefits people and the planet.
Whether you can spare a few hours each week or volunteer more regularly, we'd love to welcome you to our team.
Join us and help make borrowing the new buying.

About SHARE:Frome
SHARE:Frome is a “Library of Things” that has been a part of the Frome community for several years. In this time we have grown to become a reliable, affordable and inspiring resource hub for many Frome residents and businesses.
We exist to:
1. Help local people live greener through the facilitation and promotion of borrowing, repair, re-use and recycling (that is, a circular economy); and
2. Help local people save money and affordably live independent, active, creative, fun and fulfilling lives by borrowing over buying
