Opportunity to volunteer in a rural community café serving delicious & nutritious vegan food. Role involves assisting with prep, cooking, serving & cleaning.

Come join the Rockaway Park team volunteering in our kitchen and warm communal café space.

We are committed to serving delicious, 100% vegan, home-cooked food. Every dish is prepared with fresh, ethically sourced ingredients. We take particular pride in our use of seasonal produce harvested directly from our on-site Community Forest Garden, providing "zero miles" ingredients that are as sustainable as they are flavourful

We prepare freshly cooked meals, cakes, and savoury snacks made in-house by Myk, Marta & Harry.

The café is open 7 days per week so there will always be a time that's flexible for you.

We serve a brunch menu featuring tasty options like our home made vegan bakon from 09:00 - 14:00 and a variety of lovingly prepared hot lunches from 12:00 - 14:00 Monday - Saturday.

On Sundays we serve our famous vegan roasts which are a Rockaway institution from 12:00 -14:00.

About Rockaway Park

Rockaway Park is a unique, immersive and inspiring rural community hub: a safe, inclusive and creative shared space where people connect, collaborate and build relationships. It is part DIY utopia, part multi-disciplinary arts space, part venue and home to a community of diverse and interdependent creative talents.

The unique and innovative environment features artists’ studios, a community forest garden, vegan café, live music and performance venues, a rehearsal studio and sculpture park. These spaces are enriched with a vast collection of ‘rescued’, built or found artworks, curiosities and ephemera, preserving cultural materials that might otherwise be lost and celebrating forms of social and creative heritage that are often overlooked.

At the heart of Rockaway Park is a belief in collaboration and collectivism where sharing work, vision and ideas are how all great creations take hold and manifest. The ethos is creative, ethical, sustainable and inclusive with a strong commitment to recycling, re-using and repurposing wherever possible, alongside the use of green energy and environmentally responsible practices.

Rockaway Parks doors are always open: a safe welcoming space for the local community to gather. We foster a nurturing atmosphere where the community feels a sense of belonging - when we are not building the park we are building each other up.

There is no such thing as failure at Rockaway Park - just opportunities to learn and grow. This approach encourages confidence, resilience and creativity, particularly among those who may feel excluded from more traditional cultural settings.
Our vegan cafe provides healthy, affordable and nourishing food. We see food as a vital part of sustaining creativity, connection, physical and mental wellbeing and care within the community.
