We are looking for adult befrienders (across Devon) to befriend a young person in care and meet once a month.
We are looking for adult befrienders (across Devon) to befriend a young person in care and meet once a month. The monthly visit may include going for a walk, a coffee, the cinema, to watch a sports game - an activity to chosen by the young person. This is a voluntary opportunity with up to £30 per visit for reimbursing expenses including travel expenses.
National Youth Advocacy Service empowers young people in the care system to have their voice listened to. One important part of this is to provide young people with a "befriender, mentor, role model" - someone who takes them out on a fun activity once a month, for a minimum of two years. Children in care have complex needs and an INDEPENDENT person who gives their time VOLUNTARILY is invaluable to them.
