The museum is run by The Axbridge and District Museum Trust, led by 7 Trustees a group of local volunteers and the building is owned by the National Trust

As a Trustee of the Museum Trust you will seek to meet our charitable aim, To advance the education of the public in the history and culture of Axbridge and District, by the maintenance of a Museum alongside the ongoing objectives for the trust


• Review the Strategic Management Plan annually.

• Monitor and review the relationship with Sedgemoor District Council, South West Heritage Trust, AALHS, National Trust, Axbridge Town Trust & Axbridge Town Council on an annual basis

• Monitor and review policies and appropriate government guidelines annually

• Review the Committee Structure and Responsibilities on an annual basis.

• Encourage and develop support of and from the local community

• Promote education and research into all aspects of the history and culture of the Axbridge District



The board has established a number of committees, and or ad hoc working groups; Collections and Exhibitions, Succession Planning alongside working parties include Retail, Outreach & Marketing.
