Summary

Assist the woodwork tutor and clients who are taking part in Woodwork Mental Health & Wellbeing Sessions.

Detailed description

Aim of volunteering role: To assist the woodwork tutor and clients who are taking part in Woodwork Mental Health & Wellbeing Sessions.

 

Tasks:

·       To assist the woodwork tutor with woodwork activities including

help setting up and cleaning afterwards

·       To assist clients with woodwork activities as directed by the

woodwork tutor

·       To follow all instruction and training given on health & safety and

safeguarding, including use of PPE and to follow any safety

instructions given by the tutor.

 

Time commitment: Wednesdays 10.30-12pm & 1-3pm and/or Thursdays 10.30-12.30pm & 1-3pm

 

Where: Heads Up, Upper Breach, South Horrington, Wells, Somerset, BA5 3QG

 

 

What you need to have:

·       This role has a minimum age of 18

·       Interest in the work of Heads Up, and a wish to support other

people

·       Experience and interest in basic woodworking

·       Flexibility and the ability to follow instruction

·       A good sense of humour and a friendly personality!

About Heads Up

Heads Up provides day services to individuals experiencing mental health issues, including Dementia. In recent years we have developed an Outreach service with a team who are community based. Through creative activity workshops we provide support to enable individuals to establish links to their local community and through learning, gain new skills, develop self-knowledge and tools for personal wellbeing, to access opportunities, to spend time with others and build social networks and to build an awareness of a broad range of social, educational, employment and life choices.
