5 Director Roles, bringing expertise in: Finance,Governance, Social Care, Marketing and Communications, Lived Experience Of Care,

We are looking for five directors to join the board of Frome Cares CIC, each bringing a different perspective or area of expertise. We would love all five to be local to Frome and the surrounding area – people who understand this community because they live in it.

As a director you would share legal responsibility for the company, help set its direction, and take an active part in decisions – not just advise on them.

 Finance

→ Experience in financial management, accounting or budgeting

→ Willing to take a lead on financial oversight – budgets, reporting and making sure we stay solvent and transparent

→ Comfortable with charity or CIC finance, or willing to learn

→ Someone who makes numbers feel accessible, not intimidating

 Governance

→ Experience in organisational governance, compliance or legal frameworks

→ Understanding of CIC, charity or company law – or transferable experience

→ Willing to take a lead on keeping us compliant with Companies House, the CIC Regulator and our own articles

→ Someone who keeps us honest without making it feel like paperwork

 Social Care

→ Experience in adult social care – commissioning, policy, practice or leadership

→ Understanding of how the Somerset health and care system works

→ Able to help us connect with the right people and speak the right language with commissioners

→ Someone who understands what micro-providers do and why it matters

 Marketing & Communications

→ Experience in marketing, PR, communications or digital presence

→ Willing to take a lead on our public profile so it reflects who we really are

→ Understanding of how to reach families, professionals and commissioners

→ Someone who can help us tell our story in a way that lands

 Lived Experience of Care

→ You, or someone you love, has drawn on care and support services

→ You know what it feels like from the inside – what works, what doesn't, and what dignity in care actually looks like

→ Willing to bring your story and perspective to the board table, and to be heard as the expert you are

→ Someone who keeps us honest about whether what we're building actually works for the people it's for

The commitment

Directors' roles are voluntary and unpaid. We expect this to involve monthly board meetings, reading papers beforehand, taking a lead in your area between meetings, and opening doors where you can. You would be registered as a director at Companies House, which now includes completing their identity verification process – we can walk you through it.

 Term

Initial commitment of 12 months, reviewed together.

 Who you'd work with

The existing Frome Cares CIC directors and our administrator, as part of a single board.

Not sure a director role is right for you?

We are also recruiting an advisory board covering the same five areas, with a lighter commitment and no legal responsibilities. If you would like to contribute your expertise without joining the board, see our advisory board listing [link].

 Interested?

We would love to have an informal conversation before anyone commits to anything. Please get in touch and tell us a little about yourself – who you are, what you do, and why Frome Cares interests you.

Getting there

About Frome Cares CIC

We're a CIC set up to represent micro-providers, and serve those in need in the local community in and around frome.
Micro-providing provides person based care, not task based care. It means we build relationships and communities to better support the people that need help.
The micro-providers have been here for around 9 years, and Frome Cares is there to put them, and a lower cost, more effective way of providing care on the map
