We are looking for volunteer charity shop assistants to volunteer in our new shop in Sidmouth.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary “Providing refuge for unwanted animals”


Volunteer Role profile

 

Role Title:

Charity Shop Volunteer

Responsible to:

Charity Shop Manager/Assistant Manager

Location:

Either: Chard, Honiton, Crewkerne, Ilminster, Yeovil, Sidmouth

Time Commitment:

Flexible – although we welcome a regular pattern, minimum of four hours per week

Role description:

Assist in the efficient running of the shop. The profits generated by our shop are used to support our work. The shops also play a significant role in the promotion of the image and work of the sanctuary.

To provide a friendly and welcoming service to customers of the Charity shop. 

Main tasks:

·       Greeting and talking to customers

·       Advising and helping customers

·       Operating the till and dealing with various methods of payment

·       Answering customer queries

·       Being aware of Health and Safety

·       Being aware of Security

·       Sorting and preparing stock for sale

·       Maintaining a pleasant shopping environment

 

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

·       Retail experience

·       Good customer service skills

·       Good communication and interpersonal skills

·       Basic numeracy skills

·       The ability to get along with people and work as part of a team

 

Training and support available

You will be given induction training into the various aspects of the work.

 

You will receive on-going support, training and development opportunities.

 

Reimbursement of expenses

Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

·       Lunch allowance of up to £5.00 for volunteers working a full day.

·       Travel expenses up to 20 miles per day

·       Car Parking

Ferne Animal Sanctuary cares for over 300 in need domestic and farm animals of all varieties from cats to cattle, dogs to donkeys and many more. Ferne aims to find homes for its cats and dogs and for its horses and ponies. The Sanctuary's beautiful 71 acre site, including a conservation area with nature trail, picnic areas and cafe is open almost every day of the year.
