Join us as an Event Volunteer to help us deliver our brilliant fundraising events
Are you enthusiastic, friendly and do you enjoy working as part of a team? If so why not join us to help deliver our brilliant annual fundraising events such as the Men’s Walk To Support, Women's Walk and Christmas Tree Collection as well as supporting lots of lovely Community Events in your local area.
Volunteering is a great way to gain experience, build confidence, and develop transferable skills that can support future opportunities. You’ll be part of a friendly team of volunteers, having fun while welcoming, cheering and marshalling our event participants, ensuring they have an excellent experience while raising vital funds for Dorothy House Hospice Care.
You’ll also have the opportunity to volunteer at a range of smaller events where we often need help to set up stalls, bucket collect or serve refreshments.
Once you’ve signed up, we’ll contact you with events for you to choose from, making this a really flexible and fun way to support us.
By volunteering your skills and time at our events, you’ll be helping us to raise much-needed funds to continue to offer our care to those who need it across our 800 sq mile community.
What you will be doing
- Welcoming members of the public and signing in participants
- Serving refreshments
- Directing people – stewarding and marshalling (people and cars)
- Cheering on runners/walkers/paddle-boarders
- Collecting donations
- Setting up and packing down events
The skills you need
- Be enthusiastic
- Be friendly and helpful
- Have good communication skills
- Be a team player
- Be reliable
- Be able to work under your own initiative (with full instructions provided)

No experience is required as you will receive an on the day briefing from the team. You can volunteer as and when you are available – no commitment and just pick the events you are available for.
You need to be over 18 years old and applications are welcomed from all sections of the community.
