Property & Practical Support Volunteer
Connect Community Trust (CCT) – Somerset
Are you practical, hands‑on, and good at fixing things or moving furniture? We’re looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to help with odd jobs, basic DIY, small repairs, carpentry tasks, and moving furniture across our homelessness services, including Dairy House.
This role helps us create safe, welcoming spaces for people who have experienced homelessness — the impact of your support is immediate and visible.
What you’ll help with
- Small repairs and general maintenance
- Basic carpentry and DIY tasks
- Putting together or fixing furniture
- Moving furniture, white goods, or donated items
- Preparing rooms and communal spaces
- One‑off practical jobs as they come up
What we’re looking for
- Practical skills and a willingness to get stuck in
- Reliable, safety‑aware, and respectful
- Comfortable working in hostel or housing settings
- Experience of working with people experiencing homelessness (paid or voluntary)
- Understanding of boundaries and confidentiality
Important to know
- This role requires an Enhanced DBS check (arranged and paid for by CCT)
- You may work alongside staff and, at times, service users
- Tools can be provided, but bringing your own is welcome if preferred
