Join our pool of volunteers who lead or support one of our monthly meetings for those who care for their family or friends.

Carers Groups give unpaid carers of friends and family the opportunity to take a much needed break, socialise with other carers, share experiences, laugh, cry and find out how to access local information, resources, and other sources of support.

We are looking for volunteers to join our team to lead or support groups across Somerset. Some run mornings, others afternoons all run across week days.

This role is all about meeting people, making friends and becoming part of a supportive network of professionals and service users. You will know that you are making change happen and sharing your experience, knowledge and care with people who are reaching out for help.

Key roles are negotiable but may include

  • Welcoming Carers as they arrive, helping new attendees feel safe and valued.
  • Working with volunteers and service providers to deliver an agenda agreed by the attendees, yourself and Somerset Carers Service.
  • Encourage empathy and mutual support, developing a nurturing confidential environment.
  • Helping people make friends and share experiences.
  • Developing an understanding of caring for friends and family and the support available to them.
  • Undertaking a small amount of online or paper based training and face to face occasional meetings.

Volunteers will need to undergo mandatory training and DBS and share our values.

Please make initial contact through the Spark a Change form and we will make contact via phone or email and send an application form.
