Volunteering with Arc

Would you like to help people who are struggling with homelessness or rough sleeping?

If you are over 18 and want to help us in our mission to offer supported accommodation, where people can be inspired and empowered by their own strengths, then volunteering with Arc could be just right for you.

We don't want our volunteers to be out of pocket, so we always offer to reimburse you for your travel. However, money is tight for us, as it is for everyone, so we will prioritise offering roles to people who live in our local area.

Volunteers work alongside paid staff across our organisation, making a huge difference to the support and opportunities we can offer our clients.

You could:

Collect food donations from supermarkets for our hostel
Run a stall at a community event, taking donations and talking to the public about our work
Share your skills and hobbies with clients in our hostel
Work in our hostel kitchen

Whatever you choose to do, we will do our best to ensure that your time spent with us is enjoyable and rewarding for both parties. You can expect to be fully supported in your role, with a named professional to keep in touch with you on a regular basis.

What next?

The next step is to complete a volunteer application form, available on this website, or by contacting our Volunteer Coordinator, Gill Harrison: gharrison@arcinspire.co.uk. Once you’ve returned your form we will invite you to come and have an informal chat with us, and we’ll ask for two references. Depending on the role, we may also need to conduct a DBS check. Arc is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and expects all volunteers to share this commitment.

If you are appointed to a voluntary role you will be expected to attend training and induction before you start volunteering.
