Summary

Provide regular contact and support to alleviate loneliness and isolation following a discharge from hospital

Detailed description

  • Visit an older person in their own home on a number of occasions usually over a 2-4 week period following discharge from hospital and professional support from the Home Independence Support service team
  • Provide company and conversation to alleviate isolation and potentially assist in identifying opportunities to engage in wider social groups or accessing technology.


Commitment Required:

· Estimated weekly commitment to older person: 1-2 hours per week

· Days and times of volunteer activity (if known): Varied

· Length of commitment: Ongoing but rotating - providing support to particular individuals for a 2-4 week period following discharge from hospital

You’re welcome to take on multiple roles if they interest you, and we’ll tailor your volunteering experience to suit you. All roles require a DBS check and training, which we’ll arrange as part of your induction.
