SummaryAs the guardians of purpose; trustees safeguard the trust's assets, purpose and reputation, & are responsible for overall management & strategic direction.
We welcome applications from people who care about our countryside (especially our aquatic environments) and who are interested in engaging the community to make a difference. Skills or experience in management, communications, administration, marketing, IT, etc, would be highly desirable.
The role of trustee is quite flexible, and while it is intended that there should be no onerous burden placed upon trustees, the role implies a personal commitment not just to the Trust but to the cause it represents.
Commitment to the activities of the Trust will be tailored, as far as possible, to suit individual circumstances. The role encompasses a range of activities, such as:
- community engagement/communication
- stakeholder management
- oversight of projects
- decision making
- practical tasks (though this is purely voluntary)
If we achieve the desired number of trustees, ie 8-12, that would help to ensure that commitments were not consistently falling unduly on a small group, and roles could, including those of chair, treasurer and secretary, could be rotated if thought necessary.
There are two roles to be filled: an Executive and a Non-Executive Trustee. If you would like to know more about the roles or have any questions about them, please contact Lorne Thomson at Yeovil Rivers Community Trust.

Thank you for taking an interest.
