Support our volunteer to co-ordinate and lead a group for carers to chat and share experiences and support.Detailed description
Carers Groups give unpaid carers of friends and family, the opportunity to take a much needed break, socialise with other carers, share experiences, laugh, cry and find out how to access local information, resources, and other sources of support.
We need a volunteer to support the current volunteer with leading and promoting the group alongside the team at the Waffle Cafe, Talking Cafe and food bank that run at the same time.
Listen with understanding and empathy
Facilitate conversation
Share information and updates.
Share posters and if possible facebook advertising and occasional promotional events
Undertake some online training.
Make contact with carers before the group
This is a fun, friendly and sociable role and there is support through out. It's very rewarding to know you are providing much needed support to individuals who spend much of their time caring for others, who could otherwise be quite isolated.
The group runs on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10am. The Church is fully accessible with a range of parking nearby. NB the existing group is moving from the Community Centre.
