Summary
Be part of the team of instructors and volunteers making exciting things happen every third Wednesday afternoon of the month.Detailed description
The monthly Carers Group gives unpaid carers of friends and family members, the opportunity to take a much needed break, socialise with other carers, and find out how to access local information, resources, and other sources of support.
This new group combines gentle movement and creative activities for the cared for, run by instructors in one room, whilst the carers can chat and receives useful updates and information about their role as a carer.
We need someone to lead the group and one or two people to support the instructor with the cared for who may be elderly, have learning or physical disability.
Tasks will include:
- Giving a warm welcome to the carers attending the group
- Setting up the venue and serving teas and coffees
- Chatting to the members of the group, providing peer support and comfort
- Undertake a small level of training
- Sharing new information
- booking speakers.
This is a fun, friendly and sociable role and there is support through out. The date is fixed but the group is at the development stage at present and so subject to slight changes. It's very rewarding to know you are providing much needed support to individuals who spend much of their time caring for others, who could otherwise be quite isolated.
Full accessibility, parking in the main carpark.
