Detailed description
"Hestercombe Gardens recognises the important contribution made by volunteers in helping to fulfil the aims and objectives of the organisation, enhancing the overall experience of visitors. Help us to engage the public with our new art gallery and to keep the works safe. As a volunteer in this role, you will meet and greet visitors to the new Hestercombe House Gallery, helping them to get the most out of their visit. You will have information about each of the artworks in your section and will be working as part of a team. You will be responsible for safeguarding the paintings and guiding visitors through the different rooms of the 'pop-up' gallery." Leadership,Teamwork,Organising,Talking to others,Listening "Hestercombe is looking for friendly and approachable volunteers to assist in the Hestercombe Gallery, a contemporary art gallery. We are looking for people who have excellent communication skills, the ability to move freely around an exhibition and stand/sit for periods of time and possibly an enthusiasm for the arts. Full training will be provided."
Getting there
About Hestercombe Gardens Trust
"Hestercombe is a world famous heritage site with a unique display of restored period gardens spanning 400 years, which have been saved from disrepair and restored to their former glory over the last 20 years. Hestercombe House hosts a contemporary art gallery, a second-hand book shop and a restaurant while elsewhere on site there is a cosy café and gardens shop. The site welcomes over 90,000 visitors a year to explore the gardens, discover the art gallery, enjoy a jam-packed series of events throughout the year, as well as attend weddings and functions.

As a small charity, Hestercombe relies on volunteers to deliver a number of extremely valuable services, both directly to visitors and behind the scenes.

There are a variety of ways you can get involved. Whether through gardening, invigilating in the Hestercombe Gallery or supporting with office administration ¬all roles on which the running of Hestercombe is dependent.

Why volunteer?

By volunteering at Hestercombe youll be part of the Hestercombe team made up of volunteers from the local community, as well the Hestercombe staff.

The roles undertaken by volunteers here at Hestercombe are considered some of the most important across the organisation and allow us to offer the highest quality visitor experience. Without the support of volunteers we would not be able to deliver the wide range of events, high quality exhibitions and continued estate management that we currently provide.

Whether you are able to offer a few hours a month, or a day or two a week, it is your time and energy that makes Hestercombe the exciting, innovative and engaging place it is.

As a thank you for your help and hard work, Hestercombe offers volunteers free annual membership, a discount card for the Gardens Shop, training and an annual volunteer party a great opportunity to socialise and get to know our team even better. Of course our volunteers also receive free tea and coffee while working at Hestercombe!"
