SummarySomerset Phoenix Project is a service in Somerset which works alongside children, young people and their families who have been affected by child sexual abuse
Barnardo’s Mentors work with young people and adults on a 1:1 basis, offering practical assistance and emotional support, to build their self-confidence, coping mechanisms and positive relationships. The work could be focused on a particular need, such as gaining employment or accessing training, or it could be more focused around life skills and independent living.
The Somerset Phoenix Project is a service in Somerset which works alongside children, young people and their families who have been affected by childhood sexual abuse (CSA). Sexual abuse changes lives, but so do we!
The service is developing new end of service pathways to support those children and young people who may still need some support following their therapeutic work with us. We are interested in creating a network of mentors across the county who could support a child/young person near the end of their therapeutic journey with us.
We are looking for people who can: celebrate mentees’ achievements; provide young people with basic information, advice and guidance, and ensure mentees know about additional support services available to them and how to best utilise them.
We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in people’s lives, with a friendly and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people and adults, empowering them to take steps towards improving their situation and achieving their goals.
