Important role at the East Somerset Railway, directing visitors across the railway lines when it is safe to do so. Full training given. Enjoyable, sociable position engaging with members of the public. Volunteers are able to choose when to attend by adding their names to a roster according to their availability.

Looking for a volunteering role that provides great satisfaction and oodles of camaraderie? The East Somerset Heritage Steam Railway welcomes new volunteers in a variety of roles. As well as hands-on, practical work maintaining our railway line and our steam locomotive and Signal Box restoration projects, we require public facing roles during the summer season such as Guards, Travelling Ticket Inspectors, Shop and Ticket Office staff. The ESR is a dynamic and friendly organization that offers flexible time commitment according to your availability, social events, free train rides for you and discounts for your friends and family.
